Forwarding Addresses
Keep old short links alive when you update or delete an affiliate link
Forwarding Addresses ensure that short links you've already shared — in YouTube descriptions, on social media, or in print — continue to work even after you update the destination URL or delete an affiliate link.
There are two scenarios where forwarding addresses protect you. First, if you change the destination URL on an existing affiliate link (for example, if your affiliate URL format changes or you switch to a different network), you can opt to keep the old short link code active as a forwarding address pointing to the new destination. A checkbox in the link editor prompts you to make this decision when you update a URL.
Second, when you delete an affiliate link, the deletion dialog gives you a choice: delete everything including the short link, or keep the short link code alive as a forwarding address that redirects to a URL you specify. This is invaluable when you've published a short link in a permanent location like a YouTube video description.
Forwarding Addresses can be managed from your dashboard. Each one shows the original code, the forwarding destination, and its click count. You can enable or disable forwarding addresses globally via your account settings with the forwarding addresses toggle, or manage individual ones from the forwarding addresses list.
