Your Short Link Should Sound Like You: Every MakerManifest Domain, Explained

A short link is a tiny piece of copy that shows up everywhere you do — in a YouTube description, under a trail photo on Instagram, on a printed card at a market stall. Until now yours has read mkr.ms/aB3xYz, which is great if you are a maker and a little odd if you are a landscape photographer or a backpacker.

So we widened the lineup. MakerManifest now runs nine short link domains, and paid accounts can pick whichever one sounds like them. Same links, same analytics, different name on the front.

New: hyk3.com and hyk3.cc — for the outdoors

This is the one we are most excited about. hyk3 reads as hike, and it is aimed squarely at the outdoor crowd: backpackers, thru-hikers, campers, trail runners, bikepackers, paddlers, overlanders, and anyone whose gear list is the thing their audience actually wants.

Outdoor gear is one of the most link-driven niches there is. Nobody watches a 20-mile shakedown video and then guesses which pack you were wearing — they want the list. A link like hyk3.com/jmt-2026 under a John Muir Trail video tells people exactly what they are about to get before they even click. It fits in a video description, it fits in a caption, and it reads like trail content rather than workshop content.

Some ways it fits outdoor content:

• Per-trip gear lists — one link per trail or route, so the pack list for each trip lives at its own address
• Base weight breakdowns — the big three plus everything else, itemized with current prices
• Seasonal kits — a shoulder-season list and a winter list, each with their own short code
• "What is in my pack" pinned comments — a single tidy link instead of fifteen affiliate URLs

Both hyk3.com and hyk3.cc are live, so you can pick whichever extension you prefer.

New: f0t0.cc — for photographers

f0t0 is foto. If you shoot — stills, film, studio, street, wildlife, weddings — this is your domain. Camera bodies, lenses, tripods, bags, lighting, filters, and the endless small accessories that photographers get asked about constantly.

A link like f0t0.cc/wildlife-kit under a portfolio post does the explaining for you. It suits a "what is in my bag" rundown, or a gear breakdown attached to a specific shoot.

New: v1d30.cc — for video creators

v1d30 is video. Cameras, gimbals, lights, audio, monitors, capture, editing hardware — the whole production stack. If your channel is about how the shot got made, v1d30.cc/studio-setup belongs in your description.

It also works nicely as a second domain alongside a niche one: use your topic domain for content links and v1d30.cc for the "here is my filming setup" list that lives at the bottom of every description.

The rest of the lineup

The original domains are still here, and still the right pick for a lot of creators:

• mkr.ms — maker. The platform default, and what every free account gets. Short, neutral, works for anything.
• m4ke.us — make, US flavored. A good general-purpose alternative to mkr.ms if you want something that reads as a verb.
• m4ke.uk — the same idea for UK and European creators, where a .uk address reads as local rather than imported.
• mkrs.uk — makers, plural. Nice for channels and shops built around a community rather than one person.
• fndry.us — foundry. Built for the heavier end of making: metalwork, welding, casting, machining, blacksmithing, and fabrication.

How to pick one

Every account starts on mkr.ms. Choosing a different platform domain is part of Basic and Premium — head to Dashboard → Settings → Short Link Domain and select the one you want. From then on, every link MakerManifest shows you — on your gear list pages, in your dashboard, in your YouTube description exports — uses that domain.

Three things worth knowing:

• Every domain resolves every link. The short code is what matters, not the hostname. mkr.ms/aB3xYz and hyk3.com/aB3xYz land on exactly the same page.
• Switching never breaks anything. Links you have already shared on mkr.ms keep working, even after you switch your display domain to hyk3.com. Nothing you have already posted goes stale.
• Premium can run several at once, with one set as the default for display — handy if you cover more than one niche and want f0t0.cc on photo content and v1d30.cc on production content.

And if you would rather your links carry your own name entirely, Premium accounts can point a domain they own at MakerManifest and use that instead.

None of this changes how your links work. It changes what they say about you before anyone clicks — and for a link that appears in every description, caption, and bio you write, that is worth thirty seconds in Settings.
