Building a new gear list from scratch is fine the first time. But if you're regularly creating lists for different projects — or if you have a standard "starter kit" layout you always use — doing it from scratch every time is a waste of time.
Today we're shipping List Templates. You can now save any of your existing gear lists as a reusable template, then create new lists from those templates in seconds.
How it works
On any gear list in your dashboard, click the Save as Template button. Give the template a name, and it's saved. Your template captures the list structure — sections, item titles, and URLs — as a snapshot.
To create a new list from a template, go to My Templates and hit "New list from this template". You'll be prompted for a title, and a complete copy of the list will be created in your account, ready to edit.
What gets copied
● All sections (with their names and order)
● All items (titles and original URLs)
● Section organization and item positioning
Affiliate tags are not baked into the template — they're always applied from your current settings, so your tags stay current even as you create new lists from old templates.
Good use cases
● You have a "Workshop Essentials" baseline you always start from
● You create gear lists for clients or projects and use a consistent structure
● You want to create a "Basic Setup" and "Advanced Setup" version of the same category
