Etsy Is Leaving Awin — Here's What Makers and Creators Need to Know

Update — June 30, 2026: The AWIN migration is complete. Etsy's affiliate program has moved to Rakuten. See our full breakdown: Etsy Moved from AWIN to Rakuten — Here's What That Means for Your Affiliate Links.

If you got an email from Etsy (via AWIN) earlier this month, you're not alone.

The short version: Etsy migrated its affiliate program from the AWIN network to Rakuten on June 30, 2026. Your old AWIN tracking links stopped working on that date. You need to apply to the new Rakuten-based program and update your links.

What Happened

Etsy had been running two programs through AWIN:

  • The Affiliate Program — for publishers, bloggers, and content sites linking to Etsy products (4% commission)
  • The Creator Collective — for social media creators who earn commission from content-driven traffic (2% commission)

Both programs have migrated to Rakuten. Any AWIN tracking links (awin1.com redirects, ?awc= parameters) stopped converting on June 30, 2026.

The Rakuten Affiliate Program

The Etsy affiliate program is alive and well — just on a new network. Here's what you get:

  • Affiliates: 4% commission, 30-day cookie (web), 7-day cookie (app)
  • Creator Collective: 2% commission, 7-day cookie
  • Scope: You earn commission on any qualifying Etsy purchase the buyer makes within the cookie window — not just the product you linked to
  • Apply at: etsy.com/affiliates

Share & Save — A Separate Program for Shop Owners

Etsy also offers Share & Save — a completely separate program for Etsy shop owners. This is not the affiliate program. Here's how it's different:

  • How it works: Share links using your shop's subdomain (yourshopname.etsy.com). When someone clicks and buys from your shop, you get a 4% refund on transaction fees.
  • Scope: Only credits purchases in your own shop — not other sellers' shops.
  • No commission: You don't earn a commission check. You save on fees.
  • Enroll: Shop Manager → Marketing → Share & Save.

What You Need to Do

  1. If you were an AWIN affiliate: Apply to the Etsy program on Rakuten at etsy.com/affiliates. Once approved, update your MakerManifest rule with the Rakuten preset.
  2. If you're an Etsy shop owner: Enroll in Share & Save and use the "Etsy Share & Save" preset in MakerManifest with your shop name.
  3. If you do both: Set up both — Rakuten for recommending other sellers' products, Share & Save for driving traffic to your own shop.

Bottom Line

AWIN is done. The affiliate program moved to Rakuten — apply at etsy.com/affiliates. If you're a shop owner, also set up Share & Save for fee savings on your own shop's traffic.
